Learning Support & Pastoral Care

We have no doubt that students will receive outstanding support from their subject teachers whilst studying in CLF Post 16. However, we feel it’s important to go the extra mile to ensure we support students in everything else that Post 16 study throws at them.

As a student in the CLF Post 16 you’ll be allocated an Academic Mentor and will be constantly supported by Student Support Administrators and Year Achievement Mentors. These are people you’ll regularly ‘check-in’ with and will be your first point of contact for extra support. A personal tutor will:
  • Conduct regular review sessions to look at your progress and ensure you’re moving in the right direction.
  • Review your academic results overall and provide advice and guidance about how to maintain high standards and improve where attainment could be better.
  • Advise on study skills to ensure you’re getting the most out of your time and efforts. This includes monitoring attendance and punctuality which are vital aspects of Post 16 life.
  • Discuss Higher Education/apprenticeship/careers options with you and make recommendations for further areas of research.
  • Collate and write your reference for UCAS or any other application you wish to make.
  • Provide support for the completion of your UCAS personal statement and application.
  • Act as a point of contact for further information.
