Live your life through a lens ? If you like taking photographs and want to learn how to use an SLR camera and how to edit your work, then photography would be a great choice for you.

Course Overview
Year 1

AS Level (1 Year)

Component 1: Portfolio of work including small projects such as exploring emotions in portraiture, a self portraiture project incorporating a mixed media approach and industrial structures.

This unit also includes an extended project.

Component 2: EST (externally set task) from exam board. Where pupils will create a project in response to a chosen theme from the paper.

Year 2

A Level (2 Years)

Component 1: Following a skills development project, students complete a self directed personal investigation with written essay to support work on a genre of your choice.


Component 2: EST (externally set task) from exam board. Where pupils will create a project in response to a chosen theme from the paper.

Progression

Students can go on to complete foundation diplomas in art and design or lens based media. They can also go onto study photography; illustration; fashion photography; graphic design; photo journalism; forensic photography at university.

Careers

Fashion photographer; magazine photographer; graphic designer; free lance photographer; photo journalism; a career within TV.

Assessment:

All Units at both AS and A Level are internally marked and moderated with other academies and then externally moderated by the exam board
